Personal Background:The photographer I picked is Peter Lik. He was born in Melbourne to Czech parents that immigrated to Australia after World War II. On his eighth birthday, he got a Kodak brownie box and took his first picture with it. He took a picture of a spider web in his family's garden. After that, he started taking pictures of things all round him. Lik was self taught by trial and error. A big part of his life was when he was introduced to a panoramic camera. and the went back to Australia to take pictures. After that, he opened and started an art gallery in his hometown.Peter Lik has been awarded in the past the title of Master Photographer from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, the American Society of Photographers and The Royal Photographic Society, and more.
Styles: One of Lik's favorite styles is Landscape and nature. Ever since he took his first picture of a spiderweb in his parent's backyard with dew on it, his favorite subject has been nature. He likes to take pictures of waterfalls, Mountain peaks, and canyons. He has been taking pictures of nature for his whole life. He's traveled All over Australia and he United states to take pictures of nature, landscape, and architecture.
Philosophy: One of the major ideas of his art work is just to capture the beauty in nature and landscape, also to play around and experiment with panoramic view, which he was introduced to in Alaska, along with large format photography. Lik took trips all around Australia to take photos, also sometimes to America. Around the 1990's, he traveled to Queensland, Australia, to take photographs of little-seen areas.
Influences: Peter Lik has influenced me in my work in more ways than one. I am a fan of nature, and landscape in general. Most of the photography I have taken in this class has been or nature, particularly flora. And his photos are mostly landscape. I also really like the times of day he takes the photos, as it really sets the mood, and really matches with the scenery, and best fits it. I also like the filters he uses in some photos, like afternoon ones when the sun is setting, to add emphasis to the sunset, and maybe to add emphasis on a part of a photo that stands out more than another.
Compare and contrast:
These sets of pictures were easiest to do. even though the forms are off, They still have the big tree as the focal point and the branches are all spread out across the picture. the difference between the two is that the tree on the left as a very unique form. while mine os a bit more straight and there are a few trees in the background. An improvement I could've done is change the time I took my photo, so that there is more sunlight coming through the branches.

Compare and Contrast:
This photo was the hardest to take because the photo that Peter Lik took has bamboo in it, while the closest I could interpret that is into grass. So that was my unique way of making the photo my own. The bamboo picture has more variation of color than my picture, and it also doesn't have flowers. I could improve with my picture in many different ways, such as make the photo at a darker setting, maybe closer at night, and maybe pick a patch of grass that has more color variation.

Pieces of Grass

Personal Artist Statement: I took my photos using inspiration from Peter Lik's photos. I tried to get as close to the original picture as I could, while also adding my own unique twist to it. The differences between my photos and Peter Lik's photos are the time of day, so that really effects the brightness and where the sun is coming from. Also the "shape" or form of the picture. For the grass photo, the tips of the grass Peter Lik took have red at the tips, as for mine are just green, and little specks of white from the light hitting the grass at a certain angle. I could improve on the lighting I took the photos at, maybe I could've taken them at a later time so the sun wasn't so harsh, and maybe the forms could've been a bit more similar.
Compare and contrast: With this image, It was definitely hard to have it similar because even though it's just grass, the tips on the left picture shown above are a tint of orange and red, and I didn't have that kind of grass. Also, the photo on the left has a few pieces of grass that stands out more due to the red. with this photo, I could've improved on taking a picture with a smaller amount of grass, just to capture those few strands to stand out more.
